WRFC - Radio Felician
Felician College's WRFC is a completely student-run radio station, designed with
our STUDENTS FIRST commitment in mind. Whether you want a career in radio or just
want to have some fun, this hands-on, student-oriented approach aims to put students
at the forefront of the planning and operation of the station. Unlike most other
college radio stations, students manage all aspects of WRFC programming, such as,
scheduling, training on-air staff, reviewing public service announcements, recording
voice tracks, mixing music with programming, developing content and selecting music.
WRFC is a new state-of-the art facility offering digital broadcasts live 24 hours
a day via streaming Web cast on the Internet. Students receive a top-notch education
and are mentored by two seasoned radio professionals with over 25 years of experience,
John Montone and Lee Harris from New York City's 1010 WINS news station. These two
veteran broadcasters teach students how to develop marketable and employable skills,
whether it's teaching them how to develop their on-air personality to build up their
audience or how to mix music with programming and announcements to keep listeners
engaged.
The station offers an eclectic format featuring two-hour programming slots that
students fill with their own choice of programming. Students often provide talk
radio segments, deliver the news, interview guests, and feature live performances
from local up-and-coming artists.
WRFC is just one of the many exciting opportunities offered by the College's Communications
department which also boasts strong digital video production and journalism programs
as well as a theater arts program which is housed in our quaint Little Art Theater
on the Rutherford campus.
